Florida Moves Forward To Block Certain Pension Fund Investments

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Governor Ron DeSantis is leading the way in hopes to block certain investments in Florida's pension fund. The state is moving forward with preventing financial decisions that promote environmental, political or ideological interests directed at the 200-billion dollar pension. This could include a range of issues like climate change or carbon emissions. DeSantis said he plans to work with legislative leaders to transition these changes into state law.

UCF Expert Analyzes Governor's Race

(Orlando, FL)-- Charlie Crist faces an uphill battle in becoming governor again. That's what UCF political analyst Aubrey Jewett said yesterday after Crist won the Democratic primary over Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Nikki Fried. Crist will face incumbent Governor Ron DeSantis in November's general election. Jewett calls DeSantis a very strong, popular candidate who has the Republican party unified behind him and a record amount of money. While Crist will be the underdog, Jewett tells the Orlando Sentinel the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade could motivate Democrats to vote.

Rebekah Jones Wins Democratic Primary In First Congressional District

(Undated) -- One of the governor's most vocal critics will face one of his most loyal supporters. Rebekah Jones won the Democratic primary yesterday in the First Congressional District with 62 percent of the vote. She'll face incumbent Republican Matt Gaetz, who got 66 percent of the vote in the GOP primary. Jones became famous while working for the Florida Department of Health when she accused Governor Ron DeSantis of manipulating COVID data. Meanwhile, D.C. Reeves was elected mayor of Pensacola with 51 percent of the vote.       

Duval County School Board Now Has Republican Majority

(Jacksonville, FL)-- The governor's power may be evident in Duval County. Two school board candidates that Governor Ron DeSantis endorsed won their races yesterday. April Carney beat incumbent Elizabeth Anderson in District Two, and in District Six, incumbent Charlotte Joyce beat Tanya Hardaker. The Republican Party of Duval County tells First Coast News these victories officially flip the school board to majority registered Republicans.

Most DeSantis-Backed School Board Candidates Win

(Undated) -- He wasn't on the ballot, but the governor can still claim victory in the primary elections. Nineteen of the 30 school board candidates Governor Ron DeSantis supported across the state won their elections yesterday. Four others lost, and seven others are headed to runoffs. 

Arrest Made In Brevard County Murder

(Titusville, FL)-- A Brevard County man is charged with murder after a drug deal turned violent. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Titusville's Corey Ward was arrested for the shooting that killed Tommy Brothers in Mims on Monday. Investigators believe the 21-year-old Brothers was shot and robbed as part of a drug deal. The 27-year-old Ward is charged with murder.          

Sleeping Man Cuts Off Own Genitals While Dreaming Of Chopping Meat

(Accra) -- A man is Ghana is having a real nightmare after cutting off his own genitals during a dream. The man was asleep and dreaming about preparing meat for his family when he picked up and knife and woke up in a pool of blood and in pain. After he woke up, he began to scream for help, with neighbors rushing to help him. He was stabilized at a local hospital, and will now require surgery to fix the severed area.

Video Of Yankees Fan Using Hot Dog As Straw Goes Viral

(Bronx, NY)-- A video of a Yankees fan is going viral for the unique way he created a straw while sitting in the stands. The fan crafted a hot dog into a makeshift straw so he could drink his beer.The video shows the man punching a hole through the frankfurter with a straw and then dipping it into his drink. Meantime, the price of a hot dog and beer at the stadium will cost you nine dollars, which is the same as it was in 2019, but parking fees and tickets are some of the most expensive in Major League Baseball.
