Orlando City Council To Discuss Downtown Safety

(Orlando, FL)-- Some changes could be coming to make downtown Orlando safer. The city council will meet today to discuss possible noise restrictions for bars and nightclubs plus requirements for better lighting at parking lots. This comes after seven people were hurt in a shooting last month. Mayor Buddy Dyer tells News 6 we're going to do everything we possibly can to make sure downtown is safe. 

Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash

(DeLand, FL)-- A wrong-way driver is to blame for a deadly crash in Volusia County. FHP says a 70-year-old New Smyrna Beach woman was driving on SR 44 Saturday night when she was hit head-on by a car going the wrong way. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The wrong-way driver was identified as a 27-year-old Pierson man.He's was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. 

Man With Baby In Car Leads Deputies On High Speed Chase

(St. Petersburg, FL)-- A St. Petersburg man is facing child abuse charges after a high-speed chase in Pinellas County. The sheriff's office says deputies tried pulling over Dartis Cobb for a broken headlight Saturday, but he shut off his lights and drove off with a one-year-old child in the car. Deputies say the 35-year-old drove at excessively high rates of speed through a highly populated area before coming to a stop on a dead-end street. Deputies say they found a gun in the car. As a convicted felon, Cobb is not allowed to have a gun.  

HillsCo Detention Deputy Charged With Trafficking

(Tampa, FL)-- A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office employee is accused of what his boss calls egregious behavior. Sheriff Chad Chronister says detention deputy Marvin Vasquez was arrested Saturday for human trafficking. The 24-year-old was off duty when he allegedly tried to pay for sex with someone he thought was a minor. Vasquez was hired seven months ago, but he's now suspended without pay. Chronister says he's extremely disappointed, and actions like this will not be tolerated. 

FBI Reports More Threats Against Law Enforcement After Mar-A-Lago Raid

(West Palm Beach, FL)-- The fallout from the Mar-A-Lago search has federal officials issuing a warning. The FBI and DHS issued a joint warning Friday to law enforcement agencies around the country. They say since agents entered Donald Trump's home in Palm Beach County a week ago, there have been more threats online to law enforcement and government officials associated with the search. Some of the threats include personal identifying information such as home addresses and the identification of family members. CBS News reports the bulletin also warns that the midterm elections could be an additional flashpoint for threats to escalate. 

Rubio, Warner Send Letter To FBI For Info On Trump Search

(Washington, DC)-- Republican Senator Marco Rubio is part of a bipartisan effort to get more information on the FBI's search of Donald Trump's home. Rubio and Virginia Democratic Senator Mark Warner sent a private letter to National Intelligence Director Avril Haines and Attorney General Merrick Garland yesterday. As leaders on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Rubio and Warner are asking the Justice Department to share with them the specific documents seized from Mar-A-Lago. A committee spokesperson tells Axios.com the panel also wants to know what national security risks may have resulted from the documents being mishandled.

Hundreds Of Cubans Detained After Coming Ashore In The Keys

(Key West, FL)-- Dozens of more Cuban migrants are in custody after coming ashore in the Florida Keys. A boat carrying 50 Cubans arrived yesterday morning in Key West at the Southernmost Point buoy. US Border Patrol took custody of them. The Miami Herald reports these migrants are among almost 200 that USBP took into custody after ten separate arrivals this weekend.   

NFL Star Calls Himself 'A Wimp' After Finding Snake In Bathroom

(Undated) -- NFL star J.J. Watt is calling himself "a wimp" after an encounter with what he called a baby rattlesnake in his bathroom. Now living in Arizona as a member of the Cardinals, Watt told his Twitter followers about his discovery over the weekend and asked for help on how to handle the situation. In a follow-up video, he said someone came to his house to help him out.  According to Watt, the person picked up the snake with their bare hands and told the NFL star it was simply a completely harmless, long-nosed snake.
