Some Tickets Still Available For Artemis Moon Launch

(Cape Canaveral, FL)-- The demand is high but there are still some tickets left to see the Artemis moon launch. The official webpage went offline this past Tuesday due to high demand for tickets to watch the Artemis One moon rocket launch which is expected to take place sometime between August 29 and September 5. A quick fix got things back up and running and as of Saturday some ticket packages to view the launch were still available. KennedySpaceCenter.com has the packages to purchase online. 

Dozens Of Haitians In Custody After Boat Runs Aground In Key Largo

(Key Largo, FL)-- Dozens of Haitians are in federal custody after their overloaded boat ran aground on Key Largo.  The U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection agents were on the scene Saturday afternoon when the sailing vessel ran aground near Ocean Reef Country Club. Agents took 113 Haitians into custody after they jumped off the boat. Another two hundred remained on board and are in Coast Guard custody. The Border Patrol's Miami Sector Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar says the immigrants who jumped off are being cared for with medical attention, food, clothing and other basic needs. Agent Slosar says the hunt is on for the human smugglers involved in "cramming all these people on that vessel."

K9 Officers Provide An Extra Layer Of Security In Downtown Orlando

(Orlando, FL)-- Orlando police are reporting a successful first weekend of new security checkpoints in the downtown area. The extra security measures were put in place after a shooting downtown last weekend. Police say there were no incidents this neither Friday nor Saturday night downtown. The new security measures include layers of security guards, police officers, and K9s specifically trained to detect bombs and guns.

Four Arrested In Relation To Shooting

(Tampa, FL)-- Four people face charges related to a shooting yesterday morning. Tampa police responded to reports of gunfire just before 3 a.m. in the Temple Crest neighborhood. The suspects fled from police and took them on a chase for almost 15 miles before hiding in a home in Brandon. The suspects included three men and one male minor who left the home after police ordered them to do so. They all face charges of resisting arrest while other charges related to the shooting are still pending. The victim is recovering from his injuries after having surgery.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Software Operating Smoothly After Suspicious Activity

(Jacksonville, FL)-- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is confirming it was not a ransomware attack that caused major technical issues on the department's server. The department first suspected suspicious activity from an outside server Friday evening. By Saturday morning, the issues were more severe, causing outages and other technical problems. Sunday, the Sheriff's Office issued a statement saying the situation was "contained" and that all systems were functioning properly.

Sign Up To Vote Early By Appointment In Palm Beach County

(Palm Beach County, FL)-- Elections officials in Palm Beach County are testing appointment-based voting ahead of the state's primary. Early voting starts this morning and the polls are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays across 21 locations in the county. Starting today, registered voters can sign up for appointments to vote early at VotePalmBeach.gov. The appointments are set in 15-minute increments at all of the county's 21 polling places.   

Man Hospitalized After Giving Himself Nose Job

(Sao Paulo, Brazil)-- A Brazilian man wound up in the hospital after giving himself a nose job. He showed up at a Sao Paulo emergency room where he was treated and referred to doctors who are trained to operate on noses. Local media reported the man tried the self-surgery after watching a YouTube video on do-it-yourself nose jobs. YouTube has removed the video.
