School District Using Television Ads To Beat Competition

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Duval County Public Schools are using television ads to compete with other school systems. The district says more students are pulling out of their classrooms and signing up for charter schools. DCPS saw enrollment drop over the last few years by almost ten-thousand students. Meanwhile, their competitor grew by seven-thousand during that time. The district is spending more than a hundred-thousand dollars on this campaign.

Titusville Man Arrested Following String of Accidents, Damaged Property

(Melbourne, FL)-- A Titusville man is under arrest following a series of events that led to damaged property and multiple injuries. Back on July 28th, Melbourne officers were called to the scene where a red Ford sedan, was seen driving into oncoming traffic and intentionally hitting another sedan. The red Ford then fled the scene where it ran a red light and was struck by multiple vehicles. The three occupants of the red Ford were ejected. Multiple people, including a child, were hospitalized with injuries. All are expected to recover. Investigators say the incident began as a domestic dispute between the two drivers.

$2 Million Of Cocaine Washes Up On Florida Keys

(Key Largo, FL)-- Good Samaritans are responsible for helping police find a large cocaine shipment in the Florida Keys over the weekend. The packages were found near Key Largo and contained over 100 pounds of cocaine. The shipment washed up in mangroves and contained dozens of packages filled with the drug. The amount seized has a street value of nearly two-million-dollars.

Police Officer Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Drunk Friend

(Opa-locka, FL)-- An Opa-locka police officer faces charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a drunk friend. An arrest warrant says the officer was driving home from a night out early last month when he forced the woman to have sex with him in a Krispy Kreme parking lot.The woman said she barely recalls the incident and found photos and videos of herself on her phone the next day, that the officer had taken. He reportedly apologized to the woman days later and then admitted to the assault on a phone call with fellow officers. He has been released on bond and suspended without pay. 

New Police Database Gives Disciplinary Information About Officers

(Jacksonville, FL)-- A new database is available for Floridians to see internal records for police discipline. The webpage was launched yesterday and comes after calls for more transparency and accountability for police officers. A search now reveals the last decade has seen 96 officers in Jacksonville disciplined since 2012. Officials hope the new avenues of information about internal police affairs will increase public trust and support for the police.

Oreo Decides To Bring Back Pumpkin Spice Flavor

(Undated) -- Oreo is bringing back one of their most controversial flavors  -- pumpkin spice. The cookie company announced they'll be ushering the autumn season in early this year with the return of their pumpkin spice flavored Oreos. After five years of Nabisco refusing to bring back the pumpkin flavored snack, customers can expect to see them on the shelves starting August 15th. While the decision has fans rejoicing, others were shocked at how soon the flavor would be in stores, with many saying pumpkin Oreos shouldn't be allowed until at least September. Oreo isn't the only one rearing for the Fall, companies like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are expected to bring out their signature pumpkin coffees sometime this month.
