FBI Accuses Russian Of Infiltrating African Socialist Group In St. Petersburg

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- FBI investigators accuse a Russian of infiltrating an African Socialist organization in St. Petersburg. During a media event Friday, FBI officials said Aleksandr Ionov is charged with conspiring over the past seven years or so to influence U.S. citizens to act as illegal agents of the Russian government. FBI Special Agent David Walker says Ionov will probably face additional charges in the case involving his alleged infiltration of the St. Petersburg offices of the Uhuru Movement and similar groups in three states.

Seven People Injured In Downtown Orlando Shooting

(Orlando, FL) -- Orlando Police are investigating after seven people were injured in a shooting incident downtown Orlando early yesterday morning. Police Chief Eric D. Smith says the shooting occurred during a fight that began shortly before 2:30 a.m. near Wall Street Plaza and South Orange Avenue. All seven victims are in stable condition. A suspect has not yet been named.

Suspect Arrested After Courthouse Security Scan Detects Knife In Shoe Sole

(DeBary, FL) --A suspect faces charges after a courthouse security device detected a knife hidden in the sole of the suspect's shoe.Friday, Austin Irvine was arrested in the Volusia County Courthouse after a deputy noticed the image on a scanner of a four-inch long blade in one of the soles of Irvine's shoes. Irvine faces misdemeanor charges for carrying a concealed weapon into a courthouse. He claims the shoes weren't his and he had no idea there was anything in the shoe sole.

UCF Helps NASA Conduct Moon Rover Tests

(Orlando, FL) --The University of Central Florida is helping out NASA. The space agency is testing its latest lunar rover in Ohio but needs assistance from UCF to get it done. The university makes alien-simulated soil to mimic the moon's surface. NASA ordered the simulated rocks and successfully conducted tests last month. The VIPER rover is expected to go to the moon's south pole in November of 2024. The date was pushed back a year after the agency wanted to perform more ground testing to reduce risks.

SpaceX Set To Launch Lunar Orbiter Tomorrow

(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- Space-X is busy preparing for another launch tomorrow night. The Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter is slated to launch from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 7:30 p.m. It will be carrying instruments to help in the search for signs of ice, water, and other data during future missions.

Chinese Rocket Debris Falls Back To Earth

(Beijing) --Debris from a massive Chinese rocket has returned to Earth. The Long March Five B rocket was used to launch a portion of China's space station, into orbit on July 24th. Chinese officials said the debris from the uncontrolled rocket came down Saturday on an island in the Philippines. While there were no reports of damage or injuries on the ground, NASA was highly critical of China's actions, saying no information on the trajectory of the debris was shared as it fell back to Earth.

Pasco Deputies Try To Evict At The Wrong House

(Pasco Co., FL) --An investigation is underway after officials in Pasco County showed up to the wrong house to serve an eviction.Jennifer Michele was not home but managed to stop the deputies before they did too much damage thanks to her security camera system. She saw them breaking into her home and stopped them by speaking through the camera.After realizing they were supposed to be at the house next door, they apologized and repaired the damage done to the door.

Candy Company Searching For Pro Taste Tester

(Undated) -- A Canadian candy company is searching for a professional taste tester. An Ontario-based company called Candy Funhouse is looking for what it describes as the world's first chief candy officer. The role involves taste testing roughly 35-hundred products each month and comes with a salary of up to 100-thousand dollars per year. The job listing states applicants must have an "obvious" love for sugar. The taste tester will be able to work from home or in-person in Newark, New Jersey, or Toronto.

Alabama Official Tells Reporter Skirt Too Short For Execution Witness

(Montgomery, AL) --An Alabama official is being questioned for telling a journalist her skirt was too short to witness an execution. The AL.com journalist, Ivana Hrynkiw [[ her-IN-key ]] says in a statement she had worn the skirt to previous executions "without incident" before. Hrynkiw was prompted to borrow pants from a colleague by the Alabama Department of Corrections spokesperson who then proceeded to take issue with her open-toe high-heeled shoes, claiming they were too revealing. The reporter was finally permitted to cover the execution after changing into tennis shoes she had in her car. But the Department of Corrections has yet to give any further comments. This happened as the agency prepared to execute Joe Nathan James Jr. by lethal injection as punishment for killing his ex-girlfriend Faith Hall in 1994, which was delayed by three hours and carried out last Thursday against the Hall family's wishes after being denied by state Republican governor Kay Ivey.
