Cocoa Beach Man Accused Of Sexually Battering Victim For Hours

(Cocoa Beach, FL)-- A Cocoa Beach man is under arrest after police say he beat and sexually battered someone for hours. Twenty-one-year-old Isaiah Burrows was arrested yesterday and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, sexual battery, and false imprisonment. Burrows reportedly held someone against their will inside a home on South Orlando Avenue while brutalizing them. Police say, the victim tried to escape but was forced back into the home. The victim eventually escaped and contacted police.

Man Surrenders Without Incident Following Hours-Long Standoff

(Hialeah, FL)-- The armed man involved in an hours-long standoff with police yesterday has surrendered. Hialeah police officers were initially called to East 53rd Terrace at around 11:30 a.m. after neighbors spotted 34-year-old David Rodriguez walking in front of a home with a gun and a propane tank. Officially say Rodriguez was in contact with crisis negotiators and ultimately surrendered. He was taken into custody without further incident. There is no indication that anyone else was inside the house with him.

Car Full Of Teen Suspects Crashes Into Police Cruiser

(Pinellas County, FL)-- A Belleair Police officer is recovering after he was injured in a crash Thursday. According to the police chief, four teen burglary suspects had fled in a vehicle after being spotted by police. The driver of that vehicle then ran a stop sign and crashed into the officer's cruiser, injuring him. Two suspects were taken into custody after the crash, but two others remain at large.

Officials: Woman Stabbed Husband Over Loud Music Dispute

(Pompano Beach, FL)-- Loud music is reportedly the reason a Pompano Beach woman stabbed her husband. Broward County officials say 56-year-old Ana Maria Ortiz Davila stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife, because he was playing music too loudly. Davila is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and tampering with evidence, as officials say she washed the knife off after the attack. She remains in jail without bond.

Spirit And JetBlue Merger Could Mean Pricier Flights For Florida Customers

(Orlando, FL)-- Flights into and out of Orlando could be getting more expensive after the Spirit Airlines acquisition deal yesterday. JetBlue executives announced their three-point-eight billion dollar takeover bid was accepted by Spirit Thursday, combining Orlando International's second and sixth-largest carriers. The merger makes them now the fifth-largest carrier in the nation. And while the company says they are committed to maintaining the standard of affordable flights for passengers, some analysts are questioning just how much the merger is going to benefit the consumer.

Florida Man Arrested For DUI Inside Walmart

(Melbourne, FL)-- An area man is facing charges after allegedly taking a drunken ride on a scooter inside a Walmart. Police in Brevard County say they responded to reports of a man swaying in a scooter, driving into shelves and almost running into customers. When they arrived to the store, authorities said 39-year-old Aaron Gregory smelled of alcohol and had an open bottle of Smirnoff vodka inside a backpack in the scooter's basket. Gregory refused to take a breathalyzer test and was arrested for DUI.

Student Raises $1 Million For Abortion Rights After Gaetz Insult

(Houston, TX)-- A 19-year-old student in Texas has officially raised one-million dollars for abortion rights after saying she was being body-shamed by a Republican congressman. Abortion rights activist Olivia Julianna tweeted today that the group she works for, Gen-Z for Change, had raised a million dollars for abortion funds in just 72 hours. Donations started pouring in after she became the focus of Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida over the weekend, who told a right-wing conference that "nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb." Julianna shared his remarks on Twitter, and began using it as an abortion rights fundraising tool with the hashtag ThanksMattGaetz.
