State Wants "Stop WOKE Act" Lawsuit Thrown Out

(Tallahassee, FL) --The state of Florida is asking for a lawsuit against a law deemed the "Stop WOKE Act" to be thrown out. The legislation is aimed at how race-related lessons are taught in the workplace or classrooms. A challenge was filed by businesses last month who called the measure a violation of the First Amendment. State attorneys disagree and say the legislation only prevents companies from requiring training programs that feature racial elements. The next hearing in the case is scheduled in two weeks.

Ghislaine Maxwell Transferred To Tallahassee Prison

(Tallahassee, FL) --Ghislaine Maxwell is spending the next 20 years in a Tallahassee prison after her role in a nationally ranked sex trafficking case. Maxwell has been transferred to a low security federal prison. She was convicted in December for luring and grooming teenage girls to be sexually exploited by former financier Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell participated in the trafficking ring starting in 2001 and operated through Epstein's Palm Beach home. Maxwell appealed her conviction earlier this month.

Suspect Arrested In Connection To Young Mother's Murder In Jacksonville

(Jacksonville, FL) --A Jacksonville man accused of murdering a local radio personality and the mother of his children is in court this week. Thirty-three-year-old Bursey Armstrong was arrested in the death of Tasheka Young over the weekend. Saturday night, Young was found dead inside of her apartment and Armstrong was arrested on Sunday. A friend of Young said the mother of two was expecting her third child.      

Sneads Police Sergeant Still Recovering After Shooting Saturday

(Sneads, FL) --Sneads Police are releasing more information regarding an officer-involved shooting in the city over the weekend. The department has identified the officer shot as Sneads Police Sergeant Brett Preston. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds while responding to a call on McKeown Mill Road along with a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy. The deputy was unharmed and the suspect was shot and killed as Sergeant Preston is still recovering in a hospital. 

 Manatee Commissioner Proposes Workplace Weapons Rule Change

(Manatee County, FL) -- Manatee County Commissioners are considering whether or not employees should be allowed to carry guns in the workplace. The policy change was proposed by Commissioner James Satcher. Tonight, the commission is expected to weigh the potential threats or challenges this policy would pose on the office. Current policy prohibits any employee from carrying a deadly weapon on county property.  

Police Shoot Snake, Save Man

(Fogelsville, PA) --A Pennsylvania man was unconscious, a 15-foot-snake wrapped around his throat and choking the life out of him. That's when police arrived in the nick of time, fatally shooting the snake in the head and releasing its death grip.It happened last week in rural Fogelsville where the 28-year-old man kept snakes as pets. A police spokesman said it was probably among the most horrific calls they've had to respond to.

Mickey Mantle Baseball Card Could Break Auction Records

(Undated) -- A 70-year-old Mickey Mantle baseball card could break auction records next month. Currently, a New Jersey waste management entrepreneur owns the 1952 card, which is said to be in near perfect condition. He bought the card back in 1991 for 50-thousand-dollars. It's estimated the final cost of the card could exceed ten-million-dollars when the auction ends August 27th.
