Normally my rule is that I take no calls from candidates during campaign season. I interview candidates in races we cover, but that's it.
A gracious exception to that was met with contempt and a threat from County Commission D-4 candidate Sandra Sullivan. She had heard a comment I made as I closed the interview with her opponent Rob Feltner on Wednesday. Only, what she heard was not what was actually said. The word "wants" was chopped by the podcast processing to sound like the word "won." I know better; it's not what I said, but I understand the perception. I had even spent valuable show prep time Thursday morning to review the on air audio and confirmed my suspicions. The processing had cut the word to sound like something other than it was.
Sullivan is prone to debate and that's what she wanted. My explanations mattered not. And then she threatened me with a complaint to the FCC. The threat got her ejected from the program. But there was more to be said. Give it a listen...
