Abortion clinics and others sued the state to overturn its law restricting abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. A judge sided with the plaintiffs and ordered a stay, but the state appealed and the law took effect. The state also asked that the suit be fast-tracked to the state supreme court, but the plaintiffs filed a brief yesterday to oppose that attempt.Lawyers for the abortion rights groups say there's no urgency to move the case forward, and they argue the case should go through the normal appeals process.
Man Shot By Police In Lake County
(Mount Dora, FL) --A teenager is hurt after he was shot by police in Lake County. Mount Dora Police say the 18-year-old got into a shootout with officers yesterday afternoon after a truck chase across three counties. It started in Volusia County, continued through Seminole County and then into Lake County. The Lake County Sheriff's Office says during the chase he fired at least once at law enforcement officers before he crashed his truck into a synagogue near Donnelly Street and 9th Ave. Deputies say that's where a shootout took place, and the driver surrendered after he was hit. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
No Charges To Be Filed In Lake Eola Fireworks Scare
(Orlando, FL) --No one will face charges for spreading panic at a July 4th fireworks show in Orlando. Twelve people were hurt when some in the crowd at Lake Eola started running after hearing what they thought were gunshots. Police announced yesterday, though, that no criminal activity took place. Investigators believe the scare may have been caused by someone in the area setting off their own fireworks.

American Tourist Trying To Retrieve Phone Falls Into Mount Vesuvius
(Campania, Italy) -- An American tourist is now safe after being rescued from inside a volcano crater in Italy over the weekend. According to Italian media, the 23-year-old fell several meters into Mount Vesuvius while trying to get his phone back after it slipped out of his hand.Mountain guides rescued the man with a helicopter and he was treated for minor injuries. The tourist and his three relatives took a prohibited route up the mountain and are now facing charges. Mount Vesuvius is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world by experts. Its eruption in 79 AD buried the city of Pompeii.
Study Finds Florida Sharks Close To Urban Cities
(Miami, FL) -- Sharks are popping up closer to the Florida coast than researchers expected. The University of Miami tagged bull, nurse and great hammerhead sharks to track their movements for nearly five years. Experts thought the animals would avoid loud sounds and large populated areas, but instead found them in Miami and other urban cities. The study says where there is salt water, there could also be sharks. Researchers are now looking at how these areas could impact sharks' health.
