Florida Records Record Budget Surplus

(Tallahassee, FL) --Florida has a record-high budget surplus. Governor Ron DeSantis announced yesterday that the state has a surplus of almost 22 billion dollars for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year. He says this is the biggest surplus in state history. DeSantis says Florida is in a strong fiscal position because we preserved freedom and kept our economy open.   

Three Fired Disney Workers Sue Company

(Kissimmee, FL) --Disney's COVID policies are the subject of a new lawsuit in Osceola County. Three fired workers at Walt Disney World sued the company last week for violating their religious freedom. The plaintiffs say Disney fired them after they refused to wear a mask or get the COVID vaccine due to their religious beliefs. They're asking for damages that include lost pay, benefits and lawyer fees.   

Man Arrested For Shooting At Hospital In Broward County

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- Family troubles may explain why a Broward County man shot at a hospital. Sunrise's Sami [[SAH-mee]] Qureshi [[KUH-resh-ee]] was in court yesterday for allegedly firing four shots at Broward Health Coral Springs last weekend. His father tells 7News his 46-year-old son became extremely upset after learning his mother is in poor health and could die in as little as a week.  No one was hurt in the shooting, but windows on the fourth floor were shattered. Meanwhile, the bomb squad searched Qureshi's home last night, and while one item got their attention, it turned out to be nothing. 

Man On Flight Arrested For Stealing From Passengers

(Miami, FL) --A man is accused of stealing from his fellow passengers on a flight to Miami. Diego Sebastian Radio was arrested Tuesday after his flight from Argentina landed at Miami International Airport. Federal officials say he stole almost 11-thousand dollars and two credit cards from two passengers. The 29-year-old allegedly confessed.   

Alabama Day Care Center Accused Of Punishing Kids With Hot Sauce

(Hoover, AL) --A daycare center in Alabama is accused of punishing babies and toddlers with hot sauce. A handful of parents whose children attend Hoover First United Methodist Church's Day School, south of Birmingham, came forward with the allegations. They tell "CBS 42" the hot sauce is used in situations where the children are screaming, crying, biting and being disruptive. The Alabama Department of Human Resources is investigating.
