City Of Orlando Issues Apology For Independence Day Announcement

(Orlando, FL)-- The city of Orlando apologized for a statement that cast aspersions on Independence Day celebrations. The city of Orlando apology statement Saturday afternoon says in part, "The city of Orlando sincerely regrets the negative impact our words have had on some in our community." The earlier statement which was to invite the public to a fireworks display also said, "A lot of people probably don't want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can't blame them. When there is so much division, hate and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?"

Fireworks Spark Panic In Orlando

(Orlando, FL)-- Some people are hurt after panic spread at a fireworks show in Orlando.The city was hosting its annual July 4th fireworks show at Lake Eola Park last night when people started screaming and running. A police official tells News 6 fireworks were apparently going off in the crowd at the same time the main fireworks display was going on, and people mistook the sounds for gunfire. There was no evidence of a shooting, though. Some people suffered minor injuries while running away from the noise, but no major injuries were reported.   

Firework Explodes, Blows Man's Hand Off

(Fort Lauderdale, FL)-- A mishap with an exploding firework blew a man's hand off in Broward County. Sheriff's deputies responded along with Broward Fire and Rescue Saturday before dawn.Deputies and first responders found the hand and took it along with the injured man to Broward Health Medical Center.So far, there has been no official update on the man's condition.

Okaloosa County Candidate Believes Facebook Page Was Hacked Intentionally

(Crestview, FL)-- The race for Okaloosa County Commission may get the FBI's attention.District Two candidate CareySue Beasley says she contacted the FBI after her Facebook page was hacked by someone who posted porn videos and terrorist propaganda. Her account remains locked because of the content, and she's appealing to get the account unlocked. Beasley told Channel 3 News yesterday she believes the hack was intentional to restrict her ability to connect with voters through social media ahead of the election.   

Pasco County Man Arrested For Throwing Hot Dog At Police Officer

(New Port Richey, FL)-- A Pasco County man could go to prison after allegedly throwing a hot dog at a police officer. New Port Richey Police say Jason Stoll was illegally selling hot dogs late Saturday night, and he refused to stop when an officer told him he was in violation of his permit. Things apparently got heated, and the 47-year-old Stoll allegedly threw a hot dog at the officer. Stoll is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. News Channel 8 reports that if convicted, he could get three years behind bars. 

Shark Bites Man In Volusia County

(Daytona Beach, FL)-- A man is recovering after a shark bite in Volusia County. Beach Safety Ocean Rescue says it happened yesterday morning in New Smyrna Beach while the 28-year-old was surfing. The Daytona Beach resident apparently fell off his surfboard near the New Smyrna Beach Jetty and was bitten on his left foot.His injury was minor, and he was treated at the scene. There's no word on how big the shark was or what type it was. This is the third shark bite incident in the county this year, and all have been in New Smyrna Beach.

Report: Eiffel Tower Needs Full Repairs

(Paris) -- A new report says the Eiffel Tower is badly in need of repairs. French magazine Marianne got a hold of confidential reports that say the iconic landmark in Paris has a bunch of rust on it as well.It stands at more than one-thousand feet tall and will be getting a paint job ahead of the 2024 Olympics.
