Man Killed By Brevard County Deputies

(Titusville, FL)-- A man is dead after he was shot by Brevard County authorities. It happened Saturday night after a car chase that started in Osceola County, preceded into Indian River County and ended in Grant-Valkaria near Old Dixie Highway and Foley Lane. Cocoa Beach's Curtis Kimbrough was in a car with two women he allegedly kidnapped in Osceola County. He took one of them on foot when the car became disabled. Kimbrough was caught in the woods with her. The sheriff's office reports a shootout ensued. The 42-year-old Kimbrough was killed. No officers were injured. One woman had been shot by Kimbrough and is in the hospital recovering. The other woman was uninjured.

Florida Dedicates $1M Toward Surfside Memorial

(Surfside, FL)-- The state of Florida is donating a million dollars toward building a memorial for the victims of the Surfside condo collapse. Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Jill Biden gathered at a remembrance ceremony marking one year since the Champlain Towers South collapsed, killing 98 people. DeSantis says he saw the entire community mobilize to support the families following the tragedy. The state's budget includes funding toward a memorial that can be built on the site of the collapse.

Police Body Cam Vid Show DUI Arrest Of County Commissioner

(Fernandina Beach, FL)-- A police body cam video shows when a county commissioner gets arrested for DUI. Fernandina Beach Police released the video Saturday from Tuesday afternoon when Nassau County Commissioner Aaron Bell was stopped and arrested. Bell declined a breathalyzer and a field sobriety tests but did agree to try reciting the letters of the alphabet which he flubbed, leading to his arrest.

Winter Haven Woman Among Helicopter Crash Victims In WV

(Logan, WV)-- A woman from Winter Haven is among the victims of a helicopter crash in West Virginia. The UH-1 "Huey" went down on Wednesday in Logan during the 7th Annual Huey Reunion. All six aboard were taking the last ride of the day in the Huey as part of the event. All died after the craft hit the ground where it then caught fire. Logan County Sheriff's investigators say 73-year old Carolyn O'Connor is among those who perished. Three of the others aboard were from Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina and two from West Virginia. The NTSB is investigating.

Coast Guard Rescues Seven Off Clearwater

(Clearwater, FL)-- A man credits angels in the sky for rescuing him and six others from a disabled boat off Pinellas County. Glenn Rumer was one of seven people on a 39-foot boat that became disabled after it was hit by lightning Saturday about a hundred miles off the coast of Clearwater. A helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater arrived to pick up Rumer, another man and five women and bring them back to land. The Coast Guard says fortunately, the boaters were well prepared with all necessary safety equipment. Rumer tells Fox 13 News he never had to use the equipment before, and thank God, it worked when it was supposed to.        

FBI Seizes Artwork From Orlando Art Museum

(Orlando, FL)-- The FBI is now in possession of over 20 pieces of art by Jean-Michel Basquiat from a Florida art museum. Investigators raided the museum with a warrant for 25 paintings whose authenticity has been in question since their discovery in 2012. The Orlando Museum of Art has insisted the pieces are real and was planning on showcasing them through June of 2023. Now the paintings will undergo testing to determine if they're legitimate. No criminal charges against anyone working at the museum have been filed.

Florida Woman's Unusual Discovery Gets Lots Of TikTok Views

(Undated) -- A Florida woman's unexpected discovery gets plenty of views on TikTok.  The TikTok-er who goes by the moniker @uss_andrea recently posted a TikTok video showing the moment she feels a sharp object in her jogging pants. It turns out that when she takes off the sweatpants, a lizard jumps out. The video so far has gotten thousands of likes and plenty of comments.

Near Perfectly Preserved Baby Woolly Mammoth Discovered In Northern Canada 

(Eureka Creek, Yukon, Canada)  -- A Canadian miner hoping to strike gold has instead stumbled across a near intact, mummified baby woolly mammoth. Experts are calling it "one of the most incredible mummified ice age animals ever discovered in the world." It's believed the animal was only a month or so old when she died -- some 35-thousand years ago. Prior to this discovery, only one complete baby woolly mammoth had ever been found.

Explorers Find World's Deepest Shipwreck

(Undated) -- Explorers are saying a shipwreck found four miles below the Pacific Ocean is the deepest to ever be identified and surveyed. The USS Destroyer Escort Samuel B. Roberts was found over 22-thousand feet underwater in the Philippine Sea. The wreck was discovered by Texas billionaire Victor Vescovo, who owns a deep-sea submarine.The ship sank in the Battle off Samar in 1944, in which the U.S. Navy defeated a Japanese fleet east of the island of Samar in the Philippines. Expeditions made six dives over eight days in attempts to find the ship.
