Local Oath Keepers Charged In January 6th Violence

(Washington, DC) - Two men from Brevard and Marion counties are facing more charges for the January 6th breach of the Capitol. The Justice Department announced yesterday that Titusville's Kenneth Harrelson and Dunnellon's Kelly Meggs are now charged with seditious conspiracy. The DOJ says the two conspired with their fellow Oath Keepers to use force to disrupt the electoral vote certification. The Southern Poverty Law Center calls the Oath Keepers an anti-government extremist group. If convicted, the 41-year-old Harrelson and the 52-year-old Meggs could get up to 20 years in prison. 

Brevard County And Malabar Officials At Odds Over Endangered Bird

(Malabar, FL) - A bird is at the center of a dispute between Brevard County and the town of Malabar. The Malabar Scrub Sanctuary is home to the scrub jay that's unique to Florida.To preserve the birds, county officials want to cut down over 100-thousand trees where hawks and other predators perch. The town, though, wants to charge the county 40 dollars for every tree it cuts down.The county is threatening to retaliate by fencing off the sanctuary. A town meeting is set for this month to find a solution. 

Sarasota Brothers Accused Of Shooting Pellets At Passing Cars

(Sarasota, FL) - Sarasota Police are turning to the public to help put away two brothers. Twins Jeremy and Jason Versakos [[ver-SAHK-ose]] are accused of firing their pellet guns at passing cars on Brink Ave. Police say the 39-year-olds may have shot at ten drivers in recent months, and they're asking for any victims to come forward to help with the investigation. A police spokesperson tells 8 On Your Side having the brothers caught in the act on video will help prosecutors level more charges. 

Train Hits Car In Miami

(Miami, FL) - Two people are hurt after their car was hit by a train in Miami. It happened yesterday morning in Wynwood. Police say an SUV got stuck on the tracks as a Brightline train approached.Only one of the three people inside the SUV was able to escape. A woman in her 20s who was the SUV's driver and an elderly man in the front passenger seat were unable to get out before the collision.They're in stable condition. 

South Dakota Man Is Charged After Mother Serves Pot-Laced Brownies To Seniors

(Tabor, SD) -- A man in South Dakota is facing a felony drug charge after his mother unknowingly served some brownies laced with marijuana to a senior citizens group. Investigators first learned something was up when they received calls about possible poisoning among some senior citizens. The group had been at a card game earlier that night and the mother of the suspect, Michael Koranda of Tabor, served the brownies not knowing he had made the brownies with THC butter as an ingredient. No serious injuries were reported.

Couples Turn On The TV When Their Spouse Isn't Around

(Undated) -- It looks like most married couples turn on the tv when their partners aren't around. A new survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Ring asked two-thousand married homeowners what they do when their spouse is gone. About two-thirds binge TV shows or movies their partner doesn't like. Additionally, about 34 percent admitted to making food their partner isn't fond of when they're gone.
