Defund the cops was the mantra across the country this summer. The advocates want social workers handing incidents involving emotionally unstable people and the like. But those situations can be volatile. Sadly, we have an example.
IN A HANDBASKET we visit cancel culture. What’s next? Like the Washington REDSKINS and the Cleveland INDIANS, a mascot from the NHL is under fire for native imagery, but this not of a person.
LOCKDOWN is being preached heavily across the country. Some areas are forcing businesses to close. Some businesses are refusing to be persecuted into oblivion and some folks are stepping up to help out. We have yet another doctor, this one in California, who says the government is missing the mark on how to handle this. Tell us something we don’t know.
Brevard County paid out big bucks when a small group of atheists decided to sue to stop invocations before commission meetings. That did not sit well with Commissioner Curt Smith. He’s bringing back the idea of invocations at the meetings and believes he has backing from the courts for it. Currently the commission has a moment of silence to begin the meetings. Is that satisfactory? Is it worth the suit that is sure to come if the invocations return? Is it a battle that needs to be waged again?
Let’s see what we’re thinking today…
