Price Gouging Complaints Rise In Orange County

(Orlando, FL) -- Many businesses in Orange County are accused of trying to take advantage of customers during Hurricane Dorian. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody says 358 price gouging complaints have been filed in Orange County since the storm, which is the second-highest amount in the state behind Broward County. Statewide, there have been almost three-thousand complaints, and Moody says her office will take appropriate action.

Dorian's Impact Felt At Volusia Beaches

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- Signs of Hurricane Dorian's presence are evident at Volusia County beaches. The Daytona Pier sustained some damage, and the fishing section of the pier is closed until further notice. The storm also destroyed hundreds of sea turtle nests, thousands of eggs and even some sea turtles that did hatch. Volusia Turtle Patrol tells the News-Journal the loss is devastating, but that's Mother Nature.

Gaetz Supports Move To Fund Border Wall

(Washington, DC) -- First District Congressman Matt Gaetz supports a move by the president that could affect Tyndall Air Force Base. President Trump announced this week that he'll take more than three-and-a-half billion dollars from the defense department to build a wall on the Mexico border. Tyndall Air Force Base, which is in the Second Congressional District, was in line to use 17 million dollars of that money for a new fire rescue station. Gaetz says Trump's move is legitimate and necessary, and he appreciates Trump's leadership in addressing the border crisis. 

Homeowner Describes Aftermath Of Crane Collapse

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A Tallahassee homeowner is in good spirits despite what he calls horrible damage to his home. Adam Kent was getting ready Wednesday to open his new restaurant, Ma's Diner, when he got word that a 100-ton crane tipped over and crushed his house on Pinecrest Drive. His ten-year-old daughter was not home at the time, and no one was hurt. He told the Democrat yesterday the house could be a total loss, but it's just stuff and when he saw the damage, all he could do was laugh.

Airline Mechanic Accused Of Trying To Sabotage Plane

(Miami, FL) -- An airline mechanic is due in court today for trying to sabotage a plane out of Miami International Airport. Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani was arrested yesterday for allegedly disabling a navigation system on a plane two months ago. He was a mechanic for American Airlines, and he claims he was upset about contract negotiations. The pilot aborted the flight when alarms went off, and no one was hurt.

Florida Man Arrested For Stealing Uber Driver's Car

(Charlotte County, FL) -- A Florida man is accused of stealing his Uber driver's vehicle in Charlotte County. Thirty-seven-year-old Andrew Sullivan allegedly feigned an illness to get the driver to pull over Wednesday night. He then jumped in the driver's seat and took off, leaving the driver behind on the interstate. Sullivan is facing charges of grand theft auto and is in custody in Manatee County.

Facebook Dating Launches In The U.S.

(Menlo Park, CA) -- Facebook wants to help users find love. Its new online dating service launched today. The free site allows you to match with friends of friends or those not in your friend circle. One feature is "secret crush" which lets people connect if they both secretly express interest in each other. The social media giant's blog post says "It takes the work out of creating a dating profile and gives you a more authentic look at who someone is." Facebook Dating has already launched in 19 countries.

Naked Oklahoma Man Assaults Store Clerk

(Oklahoma City, OK) -- A naked Oklahoma man is under arrest for allegedly assaulting a clerk at a northeast Oklahoma City gas station. Police say the unclothed suspect was harassing customers and hitting cars on Tuesday at that station. The clerk yelled at the man to stop attacking the cars, and the suspect then allegedly punched her in the face. Officers later arrived and arrested the man at the scene.
