Brevard County Woman Convicted On Child Porn Charges
(Titusville, FL) -- A Brevard County woman faces decades behind bars for making child porn videos. Palm Bay's Rose Litzky was convicted last week of producing and possessing child porn. The 33-year-old recorded videos of children performing sex acts, and she could get up to 30 years in prison. Her boyfriend faces a similar sentence when he goes to court in two weeks.
Leon County Schools Go Back To Old Bus System
(Tallahassee, FL) -- After what he called a colossal failure of the bus system, Leon County's schools leader is taking drastic action. Superintendent Rocky Hanna announced yesterday he has replaced the district's transportation director, and, starting Monday, the district will go back to the bus routes that were in place last school year. In addition, Hanna announced the district is terminating its contract with the company responsible for the current system. When the new system was rolled out this week, many buses were late and some never arrived at all.
The district could sue the company it says made a mess of the bus system.They had signed a 700-thousand dollar contract last year and the district spokesman tells the Tallahassee Democrat it's looking into its legal options to recover some of that money.
Tampa Bay Schools About 700 Teachers Short
(Tampa, FL) -- Tampa area schools are showing us that Brevard’s reported shortage is next to nothing. While many districts are facing a teaching shortage, 10News reports there are 700 unfilled teacher vacancies across the bay area including almost 250 in Hillsborough County. The teachers union says the pay is too low, and the district says it's offering financial incentives to recruit more teachers.
Lien Filed Against Tampa Bay Times
(Tampa, FL) -- The Tampa Bay Times appears to be in more financial trouble. FloridaPolitics.com reported yesterday a seventh lien was filed against the newspaper two months ago. The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation filed the 32-million dollar lien because, it says, the paper failed to make its required pension plan payments. The Times says it makes regular contributions to its pension plan, and it keeps paying every dollar it owes its retirees.
Man Arrested After Hitting Self In Face With Nunchucks During Confrontation
(Daytona Beach, FL) -- A man is in custody after confronting loud neighbors in Daytona Beach. Sixty-one-year-old Larry Adams was arrested after threatening to open fire at an apartment complex Monday night. He allegedly sprayed the group with roach spray and said he would use nunchucks on them. Adams instead hit himself in the face with the nunchucks and was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
Raccoon Freed From School Vending Machine
(Deltona, FL) -- A raccoon is free after getting trapped in an unusual location in Volusia County. The raccoon was found yesterday in a vending machine at Deltona's Pine Ridge High School. A deputy and Animal Control wheeled the vending machine outside, opened the door and watched as the raccoon ran off.
