What do you get when rookies and clowns decide to play in the Brevard political game? Inconsequential candidates and ill thought out actions is what you get.
Cases in point:
1- Democratic County Commission hopeful Matthew Fleming (and his newly active party) failing to get the petitions required to be on the ballot. Seasoned campaigners and party activists make sure this is done on time and in sufficient numbers to ensure placement.
2- Republican gadfly and self-appointed political expert Richard “this ain’t my real name” Charbonneau deciding to file as a write-in candidate in the same commission race to help his pal Trudie Infantini carpetbag into the seat held by Curt Smith. This discounts the No Party Affiliated voters who likely fall into the Trudie camp that now can’t vote for her.
The sideshow is entertaining, but sideshows don’t win elections. Political savvy does. Congrats, Commissioner Smith.
