Covenant Christian Church in Carrollton, TX gets big kudos this week for what it accomplished this Easter.
Normally the church would spend about $100,000 advertising their Easter services to the people in their community. That was not the plan this year.
Pastor Stephen Hayes suggested taking those funds and paying overdue medical bills for people in their community. The church agreed and 4,229 families no longer have those debts hanging over their heads.
The $100,000 paid off over $10.5m of debt that was in collection. The church specifically targeted military and local families for the project.
Those families now go on, whether they ever enter the church or not, with a huge burden lifted. There are now 4,229 thankful families in Carrollton.
It was a great idea and one I hope to see spread to other churches around the country. Brevard churches, what do you think?
