Five high-ranking pharmaceutical executives could end up behind bars for their role in creating the opioid crisis gripping the U.S.
Sentencing trials begin Monday for billionaire John Kapoor and four other executives at Insys Therapeutics, who were found guilty of bribing doctors to "aggressively" prescribe the opioid painkiller Subsys.
Insys has already reached a $225 settlement with the Justice Department in the case. Federal prosecutors have recommended a 15-year prison sentence for Kapoor.
