Tampa, FL - A Tampa woman was arrested early Saturday after allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 4, sideswiping a police vehicle, and endangering other motorists.
Tampa police said they received a call shortly after 2:30 a.m. reporting a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-4.
Officers located a silver Toyota Camry moving at about 60 mph in the inside eastbound lane.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Kristian Beall, allegedly refused to stop when police attempted to pull her over.
Video from body cameras and police footage showed the Camry sideswiping a marked Tampa police car while continuing in the wrong direction.
Florida Highway Patrol assisted officers in stopping the vehicle using a Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver.
Both Tampa police and FHP boxed in the Camry to prevent further danger.
During questioning, Beall appeared confused, at one point claiming her husband was driving her home.
She admitted visiting two bars and consuming “a full drink” at each.
A field sobriety test indicated impairment, and breath alcohol measurements were .199 and .202, more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Beall was arrested and charged with DUI, aggravated fleeing to elude, and fleeing to elude at high speed.
She was booked at Orient Road Jail.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw confirmed no other passengers were in the vehicle and praised officers for stopping the car before any serious injuries occurred.
