FLORIDA - As the first day of school nears, South Florida is buzzing with back-to-school events designed to help families prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Several local organizations in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties are hosting giveaways offering everything from backpacks to shoes to ensure that students have the supplies they need.
In Miami-Dade, Chase Bank is teaming up with the 100 Black Men of South Florida for a community day in North Miami on July 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chase Community Branch on NW 7th Ave.
The event will feature free backpacks, student haircuts, financial literacy resources, and live entertainment.
Amigos for Kids, a longtime advocate for under-resourced communities, will host its backpack giveaway on August 2nd from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 351 SW 4th Ave.
This event serves families in Miami-Dade’s most vulnerable areas, providing essential school supplies through their Blue Backpack Project.
The City of Doral’s annual back-to-school event will also be on August 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering thousands of backpacks, haircuts, and food to families in need.
Pre-registration is available online for backpack reservations.
In Broward, Bair Middle School in Sunrise is giving away free shoes on July 23rd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 9100 NW 21st Manor, while Deerfield Beach will host a block party and backpack giveaway on August 2nd at the Johnny L. Tigner Center.
These events offer invaluable support to families, ensuring that South Florida students are ready for the school year.
