Miami Marlins Name Clayton McCullough As New Manager

Miami, FL - The Miami Marlins have announced Clayton McCullough, former first base coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as the team's new manager.

On Sunday, the team announced Clayton McCullough as its 17th manager in franchise history, according to multiple reports.

McCullough, 44, has served as the Los Angeles Dodgers' first base coach under Dave Roberts since 2021, marking his first major league coaching position.

He brings experience and a championship pedigree to a team looking to rebound from a challenging season.

The Marlins endured a dismal 62-100 record in 2024 under former manager Skip Schumaker, who was let go after two seasons.

McCullough was among the candidates interviewed for the managerial role in 2022 before the team ultimately hired Schumaker.

Despite a promising start under Schumaker in 2023, when the team finished 84-78 and made a rare postseason appearance, the Marlins fell short in the NL Wild Card Series, losing 2-0 to the Philadelphia Phillies.

It was only Miami's second postseason berth since winning the World Series in 2003.

McCullough's managerial experience extends to the minor leagues, where he led Toronto Blue Jays affiliates to a 402-357 record between 2006 and 2014.

A native of Oxford, N.C., McCullough played college baseball at East Carolina University before being selected in the 22nd round of the 2002 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians.
