A six member jury in Ocala Friday convicted Susan Lorincz of manslaughter for shooting to death neighbor Ajika 'AJ' Owens during an argument over Owens' four children.
It took the jury only a couple of hours to reach a verdict after hearing closing arguments Friday morning. Owens' mother Pamela Dias spoke outside the courthouse.
"I am very pleased with the jury, the prosecution, the verdict of the guilty," Dias said. "I find some peace with that verdict."
Dias said please keep her daughter's children in your prayers.
Lorincz maintained she acted in self-defense when she shot Owens through her closed front door. Lorincz will be kept in custody until sentenced at a later date. The 59 year old could face 30 years in prison.
