Cape Coral, FL - A tire technician has died following a fatal incident at a Firestone Complete Auto Care on Skyline Boulevard in Cape Coral on Sunday afternoon.
According to Cape Coral police, a tire explosion erupted inside the business around 2:00 p.m., tragically killing a Firestone technician.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
In a statement from Firestone Communications Manager Caroline Matis, Matis mourned the loss of the Firestone technician, stating "We are deeply saddened to report the loss of a valued employee at our Cape Coral store. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victim's family, friends, and colleagues. We are cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate the cause of this accident."
The identity of the deceased technician has not been released by authorities at this time.
