A sad and tragic discovery at the Solid Waste Authority plant in West Palm Beach.

"We have human remains that appear to be that of an infant and we need to determine who they belong to and what happened."

Police Spokesman Mike Jachles says that on Tuesday night a worker found the remains on the tipping floor, where garbage trucks dump their loads.

"The load was apparently cleared away and the body parts remained on the floor."

The medical examiner's office has taken the remains for an examination.

Detectives are searching through surveillance videos to track the movement of trucks that were coming into the facility and which one could've brought the remains.

From there, Jachles says investigators will use DNA and genealogy to identify the baby.
