Leesburg, FL - A 52-year-old motorcyclist is recovering from serious injuries after being intentionally struck by a car in a suspected road rage incident on Interstate 75 in Leesburg early Friday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is searching for a gray or silver 2020 Honda Civic believed to be involved in the hit-and-run crash.
Dashcam footage captured by FHP shows the moments leading up to the incident, where the motorcyclist appears to be attempting to evade the Honda.
According to FHP, the motorcyclist passed a commercial vehicle on the shoulder while the Honda pursued in the center lane.
Once both vehicles passed the truck, the Honda driver allegedly swerved towards the shoulder and rammed the motorcycle.
The footage shows the motorcyclist thrown from the bike before it flips into the woods. The Honda then fled the scene.
"The cause of the initial confrontation remains under investigation," an FHP spokesperson stated.
The injured motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators recovered vehicle parts from the scene that matched the suspect vehicle description.
