Reckless Driver Causes Power Outage in Cape Coral

Cape Coral, FL - A reckless driving incident involving a car performing donuts at an intersection resulted in a power outage affecting over 1,000 residents in Cape Coral on Saturday evening.

The crash occurred around 7:00 pm at the intersection of Oasis Boulevard and Beach Parkway W. According to Cape Coral Police officers at the scene, the driver lost control while performing donuts, striking a utility pole before continuing into the front yard of a residence and impacting an LCEC power control box.

Witnesses reported the incident sounding like an explosion.

Emergency personnel transported at least three of the four vehicle occupants to the hospital for treatment.

Their conditions and any potential charges have not yet been disclosed by Cape Coral Police, who are currently investigating the incident.

Residents in the area expressed concerns about recurring issues with reckless driving at the intersection.

Fortunately, LCEC crews were able to restore power within a few hours.
