The Fort Pierce woman who was charged with the hit and run death of a 10-year old girl has been found guilty on both counts against her.

25-year old Arianna Colon was convicted on Thursday, after just a couple of hours of jury deliberations.

Yaceny Gonzalez was walking to her school bus on a September morning in 2021 when a car driving by Colon sped by and ran over the girl.

Colon testified that she didn't stop because she thought she hit a pothole and while she claims to have seen the bus, she didn't see any kids and assumed they were already inside it. Colon says she turned herself in once she realized that police were searching for her.

This was a retrial for the woman. Her first trial was declared a mistrial by the judge two days into testimony last month.

She'll be sentenced March 12th and could get up to 45 years in prison.
