North Miami, FL - A 22-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly filming herself beating her infant daughter and sending the video of the beating to the girl’s father.
Authorities say Reyanna Icilma Thomas, is facing serious charges after a disturbing chain of events involving her 2-month-old daughter.
The North Miami Police Department initiated an investigation based on alleged acts of child abuse and threats documented through video and text messages.
According to police reports, the baby's father flagged down an officer on Saturday evening, presenting a video received from Thomas depicting her hitting the infant while expressing anger.
The report describes further acts of cruelty, including forcefully pushing the child and expressing harmful sentiments towards her.
Additionally, photos and messages sent to the father raised concerns about potential suffocation and threats of further violence against the child.
Fearing for the child's immediate safety, officers and a handyman gained entry to Thomas' apartment.
She was subsequently arrested, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue examined the baby, finding no immediate physical injuries.
While the specific details of Thomas' confession remain confidential, she faces charges of child abuse causing no great bodily harm.
As of Monday afternoon, her current status within the Miami-Dade jail system is unclear.
