Police in Jupiter are petitioning a judge to have guns taken from the home of a Broward County man who's accused of attacking a pediatrician earlier this month.

28-year old Nicholas Parchesco led police on a chase along I-95 into Indian River County, where he was taken into custody.

The family of Dr. Phillip Colaizzo say he's known the suspect for 15 years and that the man has recently exhibited signs of mental health decline.

Police say that on October 4th, Parchesco stabbed Colaizzo multiple times. The doctor is recovering from his wounds.

The alleged victim's daughter says the man also punched her father in the head several times back in April.

Jupiter Police are attempting to get a risk protection order against Parchesco, claiming he's a danger to himself and others.

The suspect is being held on $100,000 bond for fleeing and eluding, but has not yet been charged with the attack itself. The police department says it remains under investigation.
