The state's highest court is refusing to block the execution of a man convicted of murdering two people in Palm Beach County.

Duane Owen is scheduled to be put to death June 15th for stabbing and sexually assaulting Georgianna Worden, a mother of two in 1984. That same year, he murdered 14-year old babysitter Karen Slattery.

The Florida Supreme Court on Monday rejected arguments about Owen's mental competency and ruled that it will not hear any petitions for another hearing on the matter.

Last month, Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted a temporary stay of execution after three psychiatrists said Owen has the mental capacity to understand why he is being given the death penalty.
