The Broward Judge who presided over the Parkland school shooter trial is stepping down.
Judge Elizabeth Scherer has submitted her letter of resignation to Governor Ron DeSantis. Scherer says her decision is unrelated to criticism of how she handled the Parkland case.
The county chief judge issuing a statement reading in part that Scherer told him "last year to advise that she would soon be leaving the bench."
