Martin County, FL - A man who beat his mother to death on New Year's Eve admitted to the murder by writing a note that said he "gave into the devil tonight."
Darren Pouncey, 34, is accused of beating his mother, Christina Diorio, 58, to death in her Stuart home on December 31st.
Deputies responding to a call from a neighbor found Pouncey with swollen, bleeding hands and Diorio's body covered with a blanket on the bedroom floor.
Diorio's face was swollen and bloody, and her nose was full of blood.
Pouncey was arrested on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court and has been charged with one count of murder.
The neighbor received a text from Diorio saying "I need ur help" the night before, but when she went to check on her the next morning, she found her friend's body and called 911.
Deputies allegedly found a notebook on top of a chair in Pouncey’s bedroom, which they said had the following written in ink: “soo I gave into the Devil Tonight!! Apparently. I’ve tried to love but it seems love is dead and people just got [expletive] instead. No rhyme or reason!! I love you but I have become accustomed to the hell this world is…I belong. I’m sorry.”
According to the arrest affidavit, Pouncey was laughing as he spoke with detectives about his difficulties with people and therapy.
