Florida Takes Walgreens To Court For Its Alleged Role In Opioid Crisis

Walgreens will be under the microscope in a New Port Richey courtroom Tuesday morning as the state of Florida sues the company for it's alleged role in the state’s opioid crisis. Jury selection is expected to take the rest of the week with opening statements on tap for next week. Walgreen's is accused of increasing orders as much as 600-percent in the span of 2 years-supplying the tiny town of Hudson with 2.2 million tablets-that's about a 6-month supply for each of its 12-thousand residents. Attorney General Ashley Moody says this is not acceptable. The state has secured more than $870-million for opioid abatement from former defendants in the case like CVS.
