LISTEN: Faith Leaders Oppose DeSantis Rule on Unaccompanied Minors

ORLANDO -- Governor DeSantis' rule blocking licenses and renewals for facilities that house unaccompanied minors from across the border is being challenged by religious leaders.

More than 200 of them signed a letter urging the governor to revers the rule. It means that facilities receiving federal funding to house unaccompanied minors will no longer have the ability to house them.

The federal Office of Refugee Resettlement funds these organizations, which are intended to provide children with temporary care until they are reunited with relatives.

The Governor argues that allowing DCF-licensed facilities to house migrants takes resources that could be used for Florida children, and that some of the unaccompanied minors aren't minors. A 24-year-old man who posed as a 17-year-old is accused of killing a Jacksonville man who took him in.
