Police are warning parents about a new social media challenge that could wind up causing damage or injury.

Delray Beach Police took to Facebook this week to point out that it's often hard to tell the difference between a BB gun and a real firearm, especially at night.

This after two teenage girls were struck by BB pellets, while practicing cheerleading at a park. The PD learned the teens who shot them were taking part in what the agency calls a "disturbing challenge" on the TikTok app, where kids record themselves chasing and shooting at each other with BB guns. They typically dress in dark clothing with hoods and stalk each other through parking lots and streets.

Police say it's not only unsafe, but illegal.

The girls were not seriously injured.
