Orlando police officer Kevin Valencia called 'our hero' during funeral

Orlando Police Officer Kevin Valencia was memorialized as a hero during funeral services Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Orlando.

Valencia died last week in hospice care three years after being shot in the head responding to a domestic violence call.

"This morning as we honor Kevin, we also honor everyone that is wearing the uniform," Valencia's pastor Shaddy Soliman said. "Thank you for your service. Thank you for putting your life on the line so we can enjoy the life that we live everyday."

Police Chief Orlando Rolon told Valencia's widow Meghan that no words or actions will ever lessen the pain she has endured or replace the loss she has suffered.

"However, I hope it brings you comfort knowing that your husband served with courage, pride and commitment and that his actions on that fateful day in 2018 and times prior to that were heroic."

Chief Rolon said Officer Valencia 'is our hero.'
