Today Marks The 25th Anniversary Of Brothers To The Rescue Shoot Down

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Brothers to the Rescue shoot down by the Communist Cuban Air Force. Pilot Mayte Greco was supposed to be flying with Armando, Carlos, Mario and Pablo that day in 1996 but something came up and she called Pablo asking him to take her place. Mayte and others are gathering at the entrance to Opa-locka Executive Airport to lay flowers on the four palm trees standing in perpetual memorial to the fallen brothers. They were on an unarmed aircrafts executing a humanitarian mission to Cuba when they were shot out of the sky over international waters.
