Baby Who Was Subject Of AMBER Alert Found Safe, Teen Dad In Custody

The teen father of a baby who was the subject of an AMBER Alert on Monday is in police custody.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued the alert for a missing newborn.

Joshua Pachon Quinteron, who's two weeks old, was with his father, 17-year-old Jonathan Garcia.

Coconut Creek Police say officers were sent to Fisherman's Drive to investigate a domestic dispute. Garcia is accused of forcibly taking the child from his mother. Witnesses say he was seen hitting and shaking the baby as he was running away from the home in Broward County.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday night, police say Garcia was taken into custody in Apopka, near Orlando.

The baby appears to be okay, but is being checked out at a hospital.
