Florida Gas Prices Could Increase After Strikes On Saudi Oil Facilities

Gas pump close up during day time

Auto group AAA says Florida drivers could see gas prices increase as crude oil prices surged overnight following a series of weekend drone strikes on Saudi Arabian oil facilities.

President Trump has authorized the release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to curb any hikes at the pumps.

."This is a fluid situation which has quickly ignited, but could also flame out - depending on how the market responds over the next couple of days," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA in Florida. "If oil prices hold at current levels, drivers could see gas prices begin to rise anywhere from 5-20 cents by the end of the week."

The average price for a gallon of regular in Florida is $2.40. That's 3 cents less than a week ago.
