Barring a last-minute change, a serial killer will draw his last breath tonight.
Bobby Joe Long is set to be executed at 6 pm Eastern for killing at least eight women in Tampa Bay in the 1980s.
The cousin of one victim plans to attend tonight's execution in Bradford County, where the 65-year-old Long will be put to death by lethal injection.
She tells the Tampa Bay Times she doesn't want to go, but it's the next step in her voyage toward closure.
Meanwhile, Catholic bishops gathered yesterday to pray for Long, his victims and others affected by his actions.
They're calling on the governor to commute his sentence saying Long's death would only perpetuate a cycle of violence that must end.
