Mick's Morning News- Monday

Artemis 2 Lunar Flyby Set For Today

(Undated) -- It may not be the technical term for what the crew of Artemis 2 has planned for today, but suffice it to say the four astronauts hurtling through space inside their Orion capsule are in for quite a treat. They'll be flying by the surface of the Moon today and setting the record for venturing deeper into space than humanity has ever been before. And they're doing it all with a fully functioning toilet, thanks to the self-described "space plumber" - astronaut Christina Koch [[ Cook ]]. Shortly after last Wednesday's launch, the crew powered up the toilet, and it promptly broke down. Koch was able to get it flushing properly with some help from Mission Control.

Armed Standoff In Lake County

(Fruitland Park, FL)-- A man is in custody after an hours-long armed standoff Sunday in Lake County’s Fruitland Park. The sheriff's office says Alexander Barrios Ozorio Walfre [[WAL-fray]] threatened a neighbor with a gun before barricading himself inside. A crisis negotiating team was called in, and hours later, he and his brother were arrested.

Port Miami Parking Garage Closed After Accident

(Miami, FL) -- Parking may be restricted at Port Miami today. Garage D was closed yesterday after a ceiling pipe was hit by a car.The pipe came down and blocked an entrance. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says one person was taken to the hospital, but there's no word on their condition. 7News reports inspectors are due to evaluate the damage and see if the garage can reopen.

One California Gas Station Selling $10 Gas

(Big Sur, CA) -- California and the nation are seeing skyrocketing gas prices, but the price at one station is pretty shocking. The very remote Gorda by the Sea gas station in Big Sur is selling a gallon of gas for nine-99. And it would be ten dollars or more, but owner Leo Flores tells the L.A. Times that the digital numbers on his gas pumps aren't made to go higher. He claims he's not gouging and he's not making money off the high prices. He says the whole Central California coastal town runs off gas generators, not electricity, which is the reason why his prices are so inflated.
