Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Arrested For Throwing Under-Age Drinking Party

(Cocoa Beach, FL) -- A Roosevelt Elementary School principal is arrested for hosting an under-aged drinking 'open house' party for her students. Cocoa Beach police say forty-seven year old Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan and third-grade teacher forty-five year old Karly Anderson are facing child neglect charges and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Reports show over one-hundred teenagers allegedly were drunk and drinking alcoholic coolers last weekend. One teenager had to be treated and another was arrested for suspected D-U-I during a traffic stop. Hill-Brodigan is released on a 35-hundred dollar bond and previously had been Teacher of the Year. Anderson is released on a three-thousand dollar bond.

Largo Student Arrested For Threatening School Shooting

(Largo, FL) -- A social media post has a Pinellas County student in trouble. Largo Police announced yesterday a Largo High School student was arrested for threatening a school shooting. The 14-year-old made the alleged threat online. He's charged with threatening communications or threats of mass shooting.

State Rep. Temple Files Immigration Bills Ahead Of Special Session

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A state lawmaker from Sumter County is pushing for a change that would affect some college students. Wildwood State Rep. John Temple filed some bills yesterday ahead of today's special session in Tallahassee. One bill would stop illegal immigrants who live in Florida from getting in-state tuition rates. A similar bill has been filed in the state senate. Illegal immigrants that live in Florida have been getting in-state tuition rates for about a decade. Lawmakers are scheduled to meet at 10:30 this morning. 

Suspected Illegal Immigrants Arrested In Broward County

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) --President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration appears to be making an impact in Broward County. Federal immigration officials made several arrests yesterday. One person from Nicaragua is accused of driving with a suspended license, illegally carrying a weapon, discharging a firearm in public and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Someone from Jamaica is facing gun and drug charges plus driving without a valid license. 

Florida Civics and Debate Initiative Gaining Popularity

(Orlando, FL) -- The Florida Civics and Debate Initiative is picking up steam. The Florida Department of Education held The Great Debate: The National Civics and Debate Championship in Orlando this weekend. More than four-hundred participants from around the nation participated this year. Students entered categories of Impromptu Speaking, Extemporaneous Debate and Legislative Debate. It is part of a larger initiative to help bring debate teams to every school district in Florida.

Fake "No Parking" Curbs Causing Confusion

(San Francisco, CA)-- Residents in a San Francisco neighborhood say someone is causing confusion by painting curbs red in a likely effort to keep people from parking. Residents in the Richmond District say someone has created fake red zones by painting curbs without city approval along several streets. They say it's left drivers even more confused due to the new daylighting law in California that bans parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk. SFMTA crews are having to go to the neighborhood and repaint some of the curbs grey again.
