Central Florida Under Tropical Storm Warning

(Melbourne, FL)-- Parts of Central Florida are under a Tropical Storm Warning. The National Weather Service issued the warning yesterday for Orange, Brevard, Lake, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. Winds could reach 35 miles an hour with gusts up to 50 miles an hour. The NWS warns there is the potential, though, for stronger wind that could threaten life and property. Also, up to three inches of rain are expected. Helene is expected to make landfall tonight along the Big Bend to the eastern Panhandle as a Category Three or Four storm.   

Helene Affecting Cruise Travel

(Port Canaveral, FL)-- Some cruise passengers could be stuck at sea because of Helene [[ huh-LEEN ]]. Port Canaveral announced last night that ships due to arrive tomorrow will be delayed. Those delays will likely impact departures tomorrow and Saturday. Passengers are advised to contact their cruise line. The port is closed and has ceased many operations until further notice.

Storm Surge From Helene Could Be Highest In Recent Memory

(Ruskin, FL) -- The storm surge from Helene [[huh-LEEN]] could be the highest in recent memory in Tampa Bay. The National Hurricane Center expects storm surge to peak between five and eight feet above ground if the peak happens at high tide. That would be the highest in the last six years. The NHC also predicts over three feet of flooding along much of the coast.

JSO Officer Arrested Following Traffic Stop Incident

(Jacksonville, FL) -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating the 14th arrest involving one of its employees this year. Sheriff T.K. Waters gave an update saying Officer Reginald McKinney was taken into custody in connection to a traffic stop incident earlier this month. The 46-year-old is accused of making inappropriate advances on a woman he pulled over in the city's Edgewood neighborhood. Waters says McKinney turned off his body-worn camera during the interaction. He has been charged with false imprisonment and battery. The officer recently resigned after more than two years with the agency.

Woman Under Arrest, Accused Of Breaking Into Home And Cooking Shrimp and Pasta Dinner

(Madison, WI) --  One woman is under arrest, accused of breaking into a home and cooking herself a shrimp and pasta dinner. The real resident called Madison police last night just before 11 P-M, saying she was startled when she saw someone walking around inside her house. The suspect, identified as Joanna Lee, answered the door when officers knocked and claimed to have permission to be in the house. The homeowner says she's never met Lee before. The suspect is under arrest for burglary and was booked at the Dane County Jail.
