My Safe Florida Program On Hold

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Some applications are temporarily on hold for a program designed to help reduce premiums for Florida homeowners. A statement displayed on the My Safe Florida Home's website says new funding for initial property inspections have been exhausted due to a rise in demand. Only applications for home hardening grants and final inspections will be available going forward. The program provides relief for residents who need help making repairs to their homes in order to protect them against future storms. Since 2022, the service has allocated more than 600-million dollars toward these kinds of efforts in the state.

Miami-Dade County Real Estate Developer Found Dead

(Coral Gables, FL)-- A real estate developer is dead after committing suicide in Miami-Dade County. The body of Century Homebuilders Group founder Sergio Pino was discovered yesterday morning at his home in Coral Gables. The FBI was investigating Pino for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife. Four men have been arrested in the alleged plot, including someone who works for Pino. Pino's body was found when FBI agents arrived at the home to arrest him. Agents say the 67-year-old was found dead in an upstairs bedroom of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Gadsden County Man Accused Of Threatening President Biden

(Quincy, FL) -- A Gadsden County man is accused of threatening to kill President Biden. Court records released this week show Jason Alday was arrested for statements he allegedly made over the last month. The Secret Service was contacted when Alday allegedly told a healthcare provider he didn't like Biden and wanted to slit his throat. Alday also allegedly asked on X if he should 'finish him off,' referring to Biden and made another post about slitting Biden's throat. Alday's lawyer says his client has mental health issues and isn't capable of carrying out the threats. A judge ordered Alday to be held at the Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institution to ensure the safety of the community.

Son Of UTSA Head Coach Shields Media Colleague During Assassination Attempt

(San Antonio, TX)-- The son of UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor is getting attention for his heroic action during the attempt on former President Donald Trump's life this past weekend. Jake Traylor was covering Trump's rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday as an NBC News campaign reporter. When the would-be assassin opened fire from a nearby rooftop, Traylor shielded his colleague, Rachel Scott of ABC News, with his body. Scott later thanked Traylor in a social media post.
