Central Florida Police Warn Of Potential Hate Group Activity This Weekend

(DeLand, FL) -- Central Florida police are warning residents of a potential increase in hate group activity over the weekend. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood says the groups of what he calls "weird losers" are planning to put more anti-Semitic flyers throughout neighborhoods during the weekend of Juneteenth.He posted the message on Facebook saying the sheriff's office will enforce the law and protect the community.Chitwood has publicly criticized hate groups in recent months. Several suspected members have been arrested for threatening violence against him.

Police Shooting In Brevard County

(Melbourne, FL) --A suspect is hurt after being shot by police in Brevard County. It happened around 6:00 last night in Melbourne at Canal Street and Hopkins Street.Palm Bay Police say officers were trying to arrest the suspect on an outstanding warrant when the suspect took off.During their pursuit, police say the suspect pulled a gun and officers fired their weapons. The suspect was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. No officers were hurt. The FDLE is investigating, and the officers are on paid administrative leave. 

Cleanup Underway After Tornado Hits Brevard County

(South Patrick Shores, FL) -- Cleanup is underway after a tornado hit Brevard County. The county yesterday started picking up debris from last week's EF-One tornado that touched down in South Patrick Shores. Yard debris was the focus but future pickups will include fencing and construction material. 

Miami Mayor Suarez Running For President

(Miami, FL) --There's another Floridian running for president. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez filed papers yesterday to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. He's the third GOP candidate from Florida with former president Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis also running. The 45-year-old Suarez is expected to make a formal announcement today.  

Harvard Medical School Morgue Manager Accused

(Concord, NH) -- The manager of the morgue at Harvard Medical School is under federal indictment for allegedly selling stolen body parts. According to the indictment, Cedric Lodge stole parts of dissected cadavers and took them to his home in Goffstown, New Hampshire. He then sold the parts online. Lodge's wife and two alleged buyers are also charged in the indictment released Wednesday.
