SpaceX Calls Off Launch
(Cape Canaveral, FL)-- SpaceX is looking to reschedule a historic launch that was set for today. A Falcon 9 rocket was supposed to launch at 3:37 this morning from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, but the company scrubbed those plans last night. SpaceX says they decided to stand down after further inspections of the launch vehicle and data review. No new launch date has been announced. The rocket will be part of a Japanese mission that would be the first ever commercial moon landing.
State To Discuss Limiting Protests At Capitol
(Tallahassee, FL)-- A new rule could limit demonstrations at the Florida State Capitol. The State Department of Management Services scheduled a public workshop for tomorrow to discuss the potential law.It would limit protests and allow police to remove people from the Tallahassee building on Capitol Hill and surrounding areas on suspicion they will be disruptive. Senator Shervin Jones says it is unconscionable that officials would want to silence people's voices. State officials say they will have a final draft of the proposal available this afternoon.
Osceola County Murder Suspect Confesses
(Kissimmee, FL)-- A man accused of killing his mother in Osceola County is showing no remorse. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Kissimmee's Matthew Sisley confessed to stabbing the woman to death on Tuesday at a home near Myrtle Oak Lane and Oak Hill Trail. Sisley's sister was also stabbed, but he claims that was an accident. She's expected to survive. Sheriff Marcos Lopez says not only did Sisley confess to killing his mother, the 21-year-old told investigators he'd do it again because, in his words, she never pushed me to be a man.
Woman Dies After I-95 Shooting
(Fort Lauderdale, FL)-- A woman is dead after a shooting in Broward County. Relatives said yesterday that Ani Estevez died from the injuries she suffered in Sunday's shooting on I-95 in Fort Lauderdale. The 23-year-old was a student at FAU, and she worked at a Broward County preschool. Her boyfriend was also shot but is expected to survive. No arrest has been announced, and the sheriff's office says it's looking for a white newer model BMW i8. Estevez' sister tells NBC 6 she feels like she's in a nightmare she can't wake up from.
Disney Workers Rally For Higher Pay
(Kissimmee, FL)-- Disney workers are rejecting what the company calls a strong contract offer. Employees rallied in Osceola County yesterday on Maingate Lane in Kissimmee as their union negotiates a new deal. Disney has agreed to raise the minimum wage to 20 dollars an hour but not for another five years. Employees say they don't want to wait that long, and they want to reach 20 dollars an hour in three years. Disney tells Channel 9 its offer far outpaces Florida's minimum wage by at least five dollars an hour.
FL Caterer Sued For Allegedly Serving Marijuana-Laced Food
(Seminole County, FL)-- A Florida caterer is being sued for allegedly serving marijuana-laced food at a wedding earlier this year. A woman who attended the event in February is suing, accusing Joycelyn Bryant of lacing food with "poisonous" levels of cannabis. In the lawsuit filed Monday, the woman alleges she had no idea the food contained marijuana and is seeking more than 30-thousand-dollars in damages. Samples of food served at the event outside of Orlando were sent to a lab for testing and it was discovered the lasagna and bread tested positive for THC, an active ingredient in marijuana.
McDonald's Offers 12 People Free Food With McGold Card
(Chicago, IL)-- McDonald's is offering free meals for life. Starting this Monday, every order completed on the fast food chain's app for at least one dollar will enter customers into a contest to win a McGold card. Three winners will get a special card that earns them free McDonald's for life. Each winner will get three extra cards to give away for a total of 12 cards. The promotion ends on Christmas Day.
1989 Batmobile Up For Sale
(Jackson, NJ)-- A Warner Brothers' Batmobile is up for sale. The car was featured in Tim Burton's live-action films, 1989's "Batman" and "Batman Returns" in 1992. Since then, it's been used as a prop at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, in front of the Batman Returns roller coaster. The Batmobile is being sold by an avid movie car collector for one-and-a-half-million-dollars. It comes complete with a working flame thrower.
