Serial Killer To Be Executed Tonight 

(Starke, FL) -- Barring a last-minute change, a serial killer will draw his last breath tonight. Bobby Joe Long is set to be executed at 6:00 for killing at least eight women in Tampa Bay in the 1980s. Some religious leaders want Long’s life to be spared. Catholic bishops gathered yesterday to pray for Bobby Joe Long, his victims and others affected by his actions.The bishops and others called on the governor to commute Long's sentence.

Volusia County May Bring Tax Hike Up For Another Vote 

(DeLand, FL) -- Volusia County leaders hope a little more time will make voters more open to raising taxes. Voters this week rejected a proposal to raise the sales tax by half a penny, but county commission chair Ed Kelley says he wants to try again in November 2020 when turnout will be higher. He tells the News-Journal that will also give him more time to convince voters the higher tax is necessary to fix roads and infrastructure.

Father Accused Of Trying To Kill Daughter 

(Orlando, FL) -- An Orange county man is accused of trying to kill his daughter. Orlando's Michael Dublin was arrested this week at his home in Tangelo Park. Deputies say he tried to suffocate the four-year-old girl with a pillow and made her drink bleach. The girl is in critical but stable condition.

Teens Arrested For Threatening School Shooting 

(Orlando, FL) -- Two teenagers are facing charges for threatening to shoot up their school in Orange County. The 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl attend Westridge Middle School. The school was evacuated Tuesday when a teacher got a text message warning of a shooting. The principal told parents the threats were not credible, but deputies say they take all threats seriously.  

Woman Robbed By Men Posing As Utility Workers 

(Port Charlotte, FL) -- A Charlotte County woman's ordeal could be a warning to others. Deputies say two men posing as utility workers robbed a woman in Port Charlotte yesterday when she allowed them into her home on Conway Boulevard. They allegedly took valuables, including jewelry the woman was wearing. No arrests have been announced, and deputies say a real utility worker would have ID and be driving a marked car.

Suspect Agrees To Surrender In Exchange For Likes 

(Torrrington, CT) -- A Connecticut fugitive says he'll surrender if his wanted poster gets 15-thousand likes on Facebook. Torrington police say Jose Simms contacted them with his offer in a private message last week. He's wanted on seven failure to appear arrest warrants. Simms himself commented today on the City of Torrington Police Department Facebook page, "only 13,800 more 'likes' to go." 

Pigeons Found In North Dakota Restaurant 

(Fargo, ND) -- Public health officials say they found live caged pigeons in the basement of a Chinese restaurant in downtown Fargo, North Dakota. Fargo-Cass Public Health inspectors cited the owners for the violation during an inspection on May 8th. The King House Buffet posted to Facebook Tuesday, saying the pigeons had been left by farmers, and that they never served pigeon meat to customers. The restaurant had seven other violations.
