Thursday- Dodging the Facts

It’s said that facts can be elusive, even more so when folks are unwilling to look for them.

While ignoring facts can be convenient, it rarely leads to a positive outcome. Today we have examples from the worlds of sports, politics and government.

The WNBA had an opportunity to make a statement for women, you know, the people for whom the league was formed to provide opportunity to play professional sports. The women in charge have failed to do that.

Some small school districts in Florida could be leading the way, showing other governments how to handle difficult financial times. It’s a good move that I fear others will ignore when it could help immensely with the property tax amendment looming. Why work when all you need to do is raise taxes?

Surprisingly, apparently strong conservatives fail to consider facts when election season rolls around. The party structure and the political machine spawned by it cause normally thoughtful officials to check their own good sense for groupthink. They back less than conservative incumbents when some challengers would be far better officials. Like other machines, the political machine checks good judgment in favor of something less, something less honest, and the dishonesty is showing.

And in a sad bit of news, Karoline Leavitt is leaving the Trump White House. She’s been a strong Press Secretary, maybe the best we’ve seen and she’ll be missed.

Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic will join us as we close our day with an update on early voting and a look ahead to Tuesday’s Primary Election.

Let’s get to it.
