Jury Selection Begins In Brevard County Man's Arson Trial
(Los Angeles, CA) --Jury selection begins today in the trial of a Brevard County man accused of setting a deadly forest fire in California.Melbourne's Jonathan Rinderknecht [[RIN-der-neckt]] will be in a Los Angeles courtroom this morning. He allegedly started the Palisades fire that killed 12 people last year. The 30-year-old could get up to 45 years in prison.
Officer-Involved Shooting In Jacksonville
(Jacksonville, FL) -- A woman is hurt after she was shot by police in Jacksonville. It happened last night on the Southside on Kline Road East. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says they got a call about a domestic disturbance where Kaiyan Atkinson had a gun and was threatening her grandparents. When officers arrived, Atkinson was in a shed in the backyard. The JSO says she ran to the house, reached for her waistband, was Tased but then pulled a gun and shot at police. Two officers returned fire, and Atkinson was shot multiple times.The 22-year-old was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. No officers were hurt.

Deputy Arrested After Undocumented Immigrant Discovered In Vehicle At Border
(San Antonio, TX) -- The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said an off-duty detention deputy was arrested on suspicion of illegally smuggling a migrant into the country. Carlos Favela, who worked for the sheriff's office for two years, was stopped at a checkpoint by Border Patrol officers Thursday night.The sheriff's office said during the stop an undocumented immigrant was inside the vehicle. BCSO said Favela will be issued a notice of proposed dismissal and will be placed on unpaid administrative leave pending termination. Customs and Border protection is conducting a criminal investigation and BCSO is conducting a seperate internal investigation.

In his previous post the "Sesame Street" character said he hopes the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs "have fun" in their NBA Finals matchup. On Thursday. Elmo posted on X "Knicks that last message ... Elmo didn't mean to Spur you on." Some social media users were upset with the red puppet over the fact that "Sesame Street" is mainly filmed and set in New York City.
